Inspired by music and dance, this work with rubber began as a project exploring rhythm and energy and evolved to become a meditation on black holes and dark matter, influenced by my reading on cosmology at the time.

The rose – the symbol of love and beauty- in all its fragility will fall apart and decay. And using stitch to rescue and restore will not help. It is about fragility and decay, and time, over which we have no control.

I dreamt it
Using sugar grass canes which have to be cut down each spring to make new growth possible, I wrap them in old cloth remnants and discarded architects drawings in the hope of creating new life forms for an imaginary garden.
